Stammtisch is German for ‘regular get-together’ and is reportedly something we’ll see often in future Symbian Foundation stuff. It’s basically a meetup. Get the details below:

admin | February 4, 2010

As location-based services have begun to gain traction, one service in particular has stood out as the favorite — Foursquare. The service is simple — when you’re out and about, you ‘check-in’ at various locations, alerting the service and your friends of your whereabouts. The fun comes as you get points for various check-ins and [...]

admin | February 2, 2010

At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show last month, Nokia revealed an upcoming game dubbed Ovi Maps Racing. The graphics are great (it’s put together by Red Lynx, the folks behind Reset Generation) but the really cool part of Ovi Maps Racing is the track creation feature.

Using the maps from Ovi Maps, you can generate a [...]

admin | February 1, 2010

One of the things that I’ve heard requested for the Symbian platform since I got my first Nokia 6620 so many years ago is the ability to edit the custom predictive text dictionary stored within the device. We can easily add words to this dictionary, but removing them is basically impossible without erasing everything, and [...]

admin | February 1, 2010

When Nokia announced that all the premium content in Ovi Maps was going to be free, we learned that due to the pitiful amounts of internal app storage on the device, owners of the original N97 would have to wait for a new firmware. Through that, we quickly learned of the pending v21 firmware update [...]

Full-Web Experience? No Thanks, Give Me Symbian Any Day

admin | February 1, 2010

What baffles me the most when I read mobile opinions from North American and European journalists is how clueless they are regarding the situation in the rest of the world, and how can they deem a product a success or a failure while limiting themselves to their region and without considering its impact on the [...]

How To: Sync Google Contacts, Calendar, And Email With Nokia Mail For Exchange

admin | December 30, 2009

Admittedly, I’ve never really done email on my phone before Nokia Messaging came around. Sure, I’d installed Profimail and others, just to check out, but I usually promptly removed them, not seeing the need. However, Nokia Messaging has turned me into a mobile email junkie, but there are two main things that really bother me [...]
